  • Whose Life is This?!?

    At the moment, I am looking out my kitchen window at another 5th wheel.  If I look out windows on the other side of our home on wheels, I see beautiful mountains and trees. 

    Sometimes I am struck by how different this life of travel is than the one I have known most of my life. There are certain moments where I am amazed that I am in all these beautiful and bizarre places.   • Chapter 1, Rockford, IL June 14-15, 2014

    Our ideal is to not travel too many miles at one time.  Rockford, IL seemed like a perfect place to spend our first night after traveling about 5 or 6 hours.  Illinois is "home" for me, and has been "home" for J., though now after living in Michigan for 9 years, those connections look and feel differently.  My Grandma Swanson lives in Rockford and found out that we could park in the parking lot of Fairhaven, her retirement community, for a night.   • Time savers and time spenders—finding things

    Every choice has costs and benefits, both pros and cons. Living in an RV is no exception--there are things that make it easier and others that make it more difficult.

    For example, life is simpler in a smaller space. It is less than 20 steps for me from one end of the RV to the other. Vacuuming the entire space takes 20 minutes or less.  Getting from the kitchen to the bathroom to brush my teeth takes only a few steps compared to the many it took crossing our family room, down the hall, up the sta
